art therapy

As defined by the American Art Therapy Association (AATA), art therapy is a mental health profession facilitated by an art therapist in which clients use art media, including the creative process and the resulting artwork to explore their feelings.
Art therapy also helps:
- reconcile emotional conflicts
- foster self-awareness
- manage behavior and addictions
- develop social skills
- improve reality orientation
- reduce anxiety
- increase self-esteem

music therapy

The American Music Therapy Association describes music therapy as the use of music within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. Through musical involvement in the therapeutic context, client's abilities are strengthened and transferred to other areas of their lives. It also provides avenues for communication that can be helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves in words.

dance therapy

Dance or movement therapy, is the psycho-therapeutic use of movement to further the emotional, cognitive, physical, and social integration of the individual as the American Dance Therapy Association defines it. Dance/Movement therapy is focused on movement behavior and is used with people of all ages, races and ethnic backgrounds as well as in individuals, couples, family and group therapy formats.
